Rock the Crock Pot

Crock pot recipes are king in our house. I am always looking for new ways to make quick dishes that can cook while I am working on other projects or busy with work. This dessert is fantastic for dinner with friends or to have warm and ready when you come home from Trick or Treating.

Apple Kuchen is a traditional German dish made from freshly baked apples. You can use any good baking apple for this dish. We enjoy Granny Smith, Honey Crisp, Winesap, Golden Delicious and various other varieties that our local orchard has on hand. Start with a single variety then add different apples to experiment with the unique flavors that they create.

My grandmother always served apple dishes with a slice of cheese on the side. This practice is a delightful way to finish a meal and takes away that over stuffed feeling if you ate too much for dinner. It really works!

Tips for Success

Not all brownies are created equal. Click To Tweet
It took me years to discover that brownies should only be baked in a metal baking pan. This is critical to baking success. For a long time I used a glass pan, and the brownies were always gooey and never fully cooked in the middle. The homemade brownie secret is to always use a metal pan, a stainless steel pan is the best. You can purchase a pan through my Amazon affiliate link below:

I alternate gluten free flour with regular flour in this recipe. Honestly, if it has chocolate in it my family never complains. The gluten free option has a slightly different texture but still tastes great. You can easily use either type of flour in this recipe and your family probably won’t even know the difference. Chocolate hides everything!

Pumpkin Cheesecake Family Recipe

If you are new to my blog, you may not know our family history. My husband’s family has been in the cheese business here in Wisconsin for more than 40 years. This cheese cake is a seasonal favorite at our family’s Cheese House restaurant. It never fails to disappoint!

The secret, is that it’s very easy to make. This is one of those treats where you don’t look at calories or worry about fat content. Because, if you do, the experience is not the same. This is not your average cheesecake, but cheesecake for the hearty appetite. You can thank me later!

We have sampled cheesecakes at different restaurants over the years, but let me tell you this one puts them all to shame. Even the Cheesecake Factory can’t compare to this.
