Easy Chai Tea Latte
Everyone loves a good cup of tea now and then. If you are not a tea drinker, this recipe will convert you! I have been replacing my morning cup of coffee with this tea because I am trying to cut down on the amount of caffeine that I consume. With this tea, I don’t even miss that morning coffee! The tea is slow brewed for deep rich flavor with a winning combination of spices. Make a big batch because you will want more and more! It’s also delicious iced.
Don’t forget to share it with your family, my teenage boys love it! It’s so much healthier than soda, and very inexpensive to make.
- 6 cups filtered water
- 12 whole cloves
- 3/4 tsp. ground cardamom
- 12 whole black pepper corns
- 3 cinnamon sticks
- 4 black tea bags
- 6 1" slices of fresh ginger root, peeled
- Honey (optional)
- Coconut Milk (optional)
- Bring water to a boil.
- Add all spices and tea bags.
- Turn heat to low, simmer for 15 minutes.
- Add Coconut milk, heat 5 more minutes.
- Strain through a sieve to remove spices.
- Pour into a tall pitcher with ice for iced tea or 6 individual ceramic cups for hot tea.
- Serve with honey or enjoy plain.
- Makes 6 Servings.
The coconut milk really makes this tea amazing! You can also try Almond Milk, but I highly recommend the coconut milk. There are so many good health benefits to this tea! This combination of spices has been around for ages in the middle east and is known to have benefits such as blood purification, aids in digestion, aids the nervous system, strengthens the bones, and gives you increased energy. Did I mention that it’s low calorie? It is! Honestly, it’s a win, win!
