The linen closet is the bane of every neat freak’s existence. Somehow, this one small closet attracts clutter much faster than other areas of the home. As we enter a new (hopefully less cluttered) year, we found a few ideas to inspire our own linen closet organization. This linen closet is every perfectionists dream! Julie Blanner painted the inside of her linen closet (a place that usually is neglected) a light color to create a brighter space, making it easier to find things. If this was my linen closet, I think I’d leave the door open all the time! No linen closet, no problem! Ella Claire added these practical yet beautiful shelves to her bathroom to create the storage space her home was lacking. This cute little doll clothes project is quick to make with scraps from your fabric stash. If you have a young one who wants to learn to sew, this would be a great project for them! Doll Clothes Garland There is something so charming about a doll clothes banner/garland, especially one that mimics everyday life. This doll clothes project is quick to machine sew, or even stitch by hand. The winter shirts and trousers look like they came from vintage Grandpa’s closet. We don’t actually have any dolls at our house, because our family is all boys. However, I am sure these tiny garments would fit any Barbie or Ken doll quite well. Thanks to Hoffman Fabrics of California for supplying the adorable Christmas Tree print and black and white stripe fabrics. You can see more of their holiday fabric collection here. These scraps of fabric came from a couple of my recent projects but you could also cut up old clothes for this project. If you want to see more of how the original projects turned out, take a look at the Ragged Baby Quilt and Men’s Hoodie Pajamas. They turned out pretty nice! For this project you will need: Doll Clothes Garland Supplies 1/4 yard of red and black check fabric 1/4 yard of Christmas tree fabric 1/4 yard of black pin stripe fabric. 1 yard or more of twine Miniature clothes pins McCalls pattern #6051 This project was a bit of a mash up with the different fabrics. A patterned tablecloth is a great way to switch things up without having to invest in new dinnerware. This plaid pattern Bless’er House chose for her tablescape is to die for! It also serves as a great canvas for other things that go on your dinner table, like the ones I go over in my post on serving tray decoration ideas. A few years ago, I decided to add some color to my Thanksgiving decor. I still reminisce on how well this design turned out. All the details are on my blog, Designers Sweet Spot. We love how Fox Hollow Cottage designed her table around this vintage sugar mold. It’s the perfect centerpiece to give the table a casual yet sophisticated feel. Make sure you take a peak at her cute turkey-themed dinnerware! Speaking of turkey, check out the wings on my tutorial on how to create angel wings home decor. You’ll definitely want to head over to 2 Bees in a Pod to check out all the adorable details added to this tablescape, including the DIY clay place cards! Such a special touch. (Plus, wouldn’t they make a cut Christmas ornament after the feast was over?!) Most tablescapes are done on long tables with plenty of extra space for decor. Which is great, if you have a long table. Little Red Brick House didn’t let her small, round table stop her when it came to decorating. This simple design is perfect… Read More »
